Vauxhall Opel Monza Concept

Vauxhall Opel Monza

Vauxhall Opel’s latest concept is the Monza, a gullwing coupe. The Monza concept gives customers an idea of where the brand is heading in the future. Rumours state that the Monza could lead to an Audi A5 challenging coupe as Vauxhall continues its push into the premium range of the market.

The interior of the Monza is definitely futuristic, the car features LED projection technology which allows the whole dash board to act as on large screen. The information will range from simple dials such as a speedometer or a sat-nav to more complex decorative elements and infotainment.

The Monza concept is based on information, smartphone connectivity and driver experience. There will be 3 variants of the Monza each with different connectivity, these are the ME, US and ALL. The ME focuses on the driver’s experience, allowing the driver to focus solely on the road. The US allows passenger to log into the infotainment system with their own devices and allows them to listen their own music and view pictures. Finally the ALL displays information about the car to the outside world, an example of this showing your route allowing other road users to tag along with you.

Opel have said this information can be used to communicate with objects in the traffic network such as traffic lights to aid congestion and prevent accidents.

The Opel Monza will be powered by a number of different sources. The car which will appear at Frankfurt will be a Hybrid, electric motors will power the wheels at all times but there will also be a natural gas 1.0 litre Turbo engine which will act as a range extender and charge the batteries.

The Monza previews Opel’s future, the grill, doors and wing designs will become the company’s trademark for all future designs. Expect to see a lot more of the Monza in the next few months and even years.
