Spy pictures of the face-lifted Land Rover Discovery show very little change to current model, but the changes are more than skin deep.
Although the facelift model looks virtually the same as the current model, under the bonnet are where the main changes are. The 5.0 litre V8 will no longer be available instead the new Discovery will be getting the 3.0 litre V6 from the Jaguar F-type – the supercharged V6 boasts 375bhp.This change makes the new Discovery more eco-friendly and also increases fuel consumption.
The Discovery will stick with the 8-speed ZF gear box from the current model instead of the 9-speed gearbox from the Evoque, this is due to engine layout. Cosmetic changes include New LED strip lights as seen on the new Range Rover; the grill has been slightly modified as well. Inside subtle changes such as a new steering wheel and dashboard are expected.
Prices for the 2014 Land Rover Discovery are expected to start around £38,000, with first deliveries being made in the first quarter of 2014.
