A road version of the Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo race car has been revealed and will be the fastest Gallardo ever.
A special edition of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse has been revealed. Debuting next month at the Frankfurt motor show, this Italian supercar is named after the newly founded Lamborghini motorsport division the Squadra Corse. It is based on the Gallardo Super Trofeo, although this version is fully road legal.
Coming from a motorsport pedigree means the Squadra Corse has the same 570bhp 5.2-litre V10 engine as the race car and has the same technical underpinnings as the Gallardo Superleggera. The gear box is a robotized 6-Speed e-gear operated by paddle shift, combined with 4-wheel drive means the Squadra Corse reaches 62mph in just 3.4 seconds and keeps going all the way to 199mph. All this power means the Squadra Corse will need some good breaks, to stop the beast it has been fitted with carbon-ceramic breaks.
To maximize performance and lower weight the Squadra Corse is crafted entirely from carbon-fibre and aluminium. Weighing in at 1,340kg it is 70kg lighter than the standard car and the carbon fibre wing from the Super Trofeo produces 3 times more down force than the than the Gallardo LP 560-4.
The interior matches the exterior of the car making effective use of carbon-fibre, while also having the comforting feel of Alcantara. Comfort seats are an optional extra for customers, to make the car slightly less ferocious.
The Squadra Corse will be available in yellow, white, red or grey with an Italian flag racing stripe. Currently no prices have been announced but more information is expected at its unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor show next month.
