Aston Martin’s 100th Birthday
This weekend Kensington Gardens in London hosted the 100th Birthday celebrations of one of the world’s most iconic car marques – Aston Martin.
The event featured over 550 Aston Martins from throughout its history with an insurance value of over £1 billion and attracted 50,000 visitors to see this once in a life time glimpse into the heritage and lineage of the Aston Martin name.
Aston’s earliest surviving car – the A3 – was on show at the beginning of a long line of subsequent releases, clearly showing the evolution and development into what we recognise today. It wouldn’t have been a Birthday celebration without the CC100 Speedster Concept, the special edition racer Aston built to commemorate its own centenary.
Of course, anything Aston Martin related would be amiss without the inevitable association of its most prestigious brand ambassador – James Bond. There was a strong emphasis on this ongoing relationship and many of the cars used by 007 could be seen at the park.
Two cars which accumulated a lot of interest were two that had previously only been seen on artists’ impressions and sketches, but the DB9 Spyder Zagato Centennial and the DBS Coupe Zagato Centennial were both there in the flesh for all to admire.
Happy Birthday Aston Martin!
