New Jaguar XKR-S GT Unveiled in New York

New Jaguar XKR-S GT Unveiled in New YorkThis incarnation the of the Jaguar XKR-S has taken the standard coupe and transformed it into the one of the wildest, fastest and most hard-core British sports cars ever. The car is road legal but has been tuned specifically for the track, but on the inside the car looks pretty comfortable to us.
One of the most obvious changes to the original XKR-S is the addition of a carbon-fibre body kit. There is a new front splitter, drive planes, wider wheel arches along with a new rear diffuser all crafted from light-weight carbon-fibre. Every piece of added carbon-fibre has a purpose and not of it being just for show, the result being and additional 145kg of down force to the XKR-S GT.

This is the first jaguar to receive carbon-ceramic brakes but this isn’t the only motorsport inspired upgrade the XKR-S GT. The brakes also get Ferrari style pre fill technology which speeds up the response time of the brakes. The suspension has been overhauled; there is increased camber, new bushings and ride height adjustable Eibach dampers and a 52mm wider track at the front end. The suspension is stiffer all round and the steering rack has much faster ratio which has been borrowed from the new F-Type. All these modifications mean there are also new wheels, huge 20inch forged alloys wrapped in Pirelli Corsa tyres measuring at an astounding 305/30 at the rear.

The engine remains the same from the XKR-S, a 542bhp 5-litre supercharged V8 drives the rear wheels and propels the XKR-S GT to 62 in 3.9seconds, 0.3 seconds faster than the standard model. Top speed is limited to 186mpg.

The XKR-S GT will be a limited run of 30 cars (initially) to celebrate 25 years of ‘R Cars’ and are all scheduled for sale in the USA and Canada and all will in Polaris White. There are rumours that a right-hand drive model could be available so keep a spare cheque on hand just in case.
